The first British colony in North America was a town in Virginia called Jamestown. Jamestown had gone through famine and disease and they had conflict with Native American tribes. However the British stayed in Jamestown to Christianize, colonize, and open new areas for trade. The British settled in Jamestown first, but it wasn't the last place they would settle. As their land expanded, the British Empire would have so much more land and resources making it the largest country in the world.
